Welcome to Children's Ministry!
There is no higher calling than caring for the little ones God has entrusted to us. We promise to love and encourage your children as they begin their journey of faith. In the nursery and preschool rooms your child is introduced to the love of God, the name of Jesus, and songs and stories from the Bible. When your child moves to Elementary school our goal in Children's is to help them live into the vision of WHPC! The curriculum for Elementary children fits perfectly into the vision to help the children make wise choices, to grow in faith, develop Christian friendships and learn to serve others and the world. If you have questions about any of our programs please give me a call at the church. Our staff is eager to meet you and help your child make friends at WHPC!

Since children’s developmental needs vary greatly from their early childhood years to elementary school, our Sunday morning programs are designed for each unique developmental stage.
Sunday School is the primary contact that most children have with the church and one of the most important hours a child spends each week. Our teachers are committed to your children—they know their job is important, and they seek to effectively relate Scripture to each child’s life through carefully planned lessons that are relevant and true to Scripture. Sunday School is held from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m - 12:00 p.m.

Sunday School Curriculum Preschool - We use a curriculum from Willow Creek’s Promiseland called “In The Beginning.” This is a basic nuts and bolts curriculum introducing your child to the Bible, God’s love and Jesus.
Kindergarten thru 5th - The curriculum is called 252 Basics. The name comes from Luke 2:52 - “And Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and all the people.” We want to help your child grow as Jesus did. This curriculum works to help the child grow in Wisdom, making wise choices; in Faith, trusting God no matter what; and in friendships, treating others the way they want to be treated. The three year curriculum teaches 36 virtues, attributes of God. Each month is a different Virtue. You can learn more about it by visiting the 252Basics.com website. I encourage you to visit the website to view the opening video slide show!

INFORMATION:
Check-in: We use a computer check-in sytem. A volunteer will be at the counter to assist you. You may check in children birth thru 5th Grade at the same time on the same screen. The first receipt is your child’s name tag and will list their classroom. The second receipt is for the parent. Give this receipt to the staff when you return to pick up your child preschool and younger. If you have lost your receipt, please show your drivers’ license. We do not require this receipt for Kindergarten thru 5th grade.
Beepers: All parents of children in the birth thru 3 year old classrooms will be asked to take a beeper, please record the number on the sheet. Only one beeper is needed per family-record the number from the first child when signing in a second or third child.
Drop off and Pick-Up: Children may be dropped off 5 to 10 minutes before the start of a service or Sunday School. Children in the infant thru 4’s classrooms do not need to be picked up or moved between services.
Fellowship Time: Parents should pick up children in Kindergarten - 5th grade before the Fellowship Time between services.
Time for Young Disciples (TFYD’S): If children attend worship with their parents, there is usually a special message for children called "A Time for Young Disciples". After this special children's message, parents may escort children in 2nd grade and younger downstairs if they don't want to remain in worship the whole hour. We do encourage older children to worship with their families.
