Make a joyful noise to the Lord!

Welcome to the Music Ministry for Adults!

Our mission is:
  • To express our love for God through music
  • To use and improve our musical gifts
  • To grow in fellowship with one another
  • To enjoy the gladness of praising the Lord together
There are many ways to serve the Lord with gladness through singing, ringing bells and playing other instruments. And there are no auditions to join – just a willingness to share Christ’s love through music.

Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is the adult sanctuary choir of WHPC. It leads the 11:00 worship service every Sunday morning from the choir loft. But it is much more than a group of singers, it is a ministry, doing God's work through music; whether it's the celebration of the Christmas season, rejoicing at Easter, or the week-to-week offering to the Lord in song. If you want to be part of a loving, caring, ministering group, if you want to feel the gladness of singing the Lord's praise, then there is a seat waiting here for you. There are no auditions, and you don't have to be an accomplished singer ... all you need to do is come and share the joy.

Summer rehearsals are Sunday mornings, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m.in Ross Hall
The Choir is on hiatus from July 11 - August 1
August 8, 12, 22: Choir rehearses on Sunday morning, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in Ross Hall

Regular rehearsals resume on Wednesday, August 25, 6:45 - 8:15 p.m.

Joy Bells
Joy Bells is the handbell choir for adults, in its 15th year of ringing praises. The use of handbells is one of the most beautiful and effective ways to enhance the experience of worship.  Joy Bells is a 5-octave choir open to anyone interested in ringing as a means to praise God. No experience is needed…just come be a part of making music to glorify God.

Joy Bells are currently on hiatus for the summer.
Rehearsals resume August 30 on Monday evenings, 8:00-9:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Instrumentalists
All Instrumentalists are invited to share their musical gifts to praise the Lord. God desires our praise not only with our voices but with instruments as well. If you are a musician and feel called to share your gift, we encourage you to play in Sunday morning or evening worship services. Guitar, piano, flute, clarinet, string bass, trumpet and trombone are among the instruments which have enhanced our worship services. Just stop by the choir room to meet Emily Craven, Director of Music. She can assist you in music selection and scheduling. Opportunities to play usually require a just short-term commitment.

More Adult Music Opportunities
We have several music ensembles and choir opportunities at Easter and Christmas that are open to anyone who is interested in sharing their musical gifts. Each ensemble has its own style of music and rehearsal times; Special occasion choirs have a limited commitment of 6-8 weeks.  More...
