The Church is called to be Christ’s hands and feet, sent into the world to communicate the Gospel to all people. At WHPC, we encourage you to discover how your time, talent and resources may be used to reach out beyond our walls to share Christ’s love with others. Whether it’s mentoring a child in East Austin or providing medical assistance in Nicaragua…we see this as God’s mission.

Partner with Presbyterian World Mission
Released in conjunction with the 2009 World Mission Challenge, the video on your left shares stories of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)’s work in partnership in Lesotho, Mexico and Nicaragua.
Mission workers need at least two kinds of support. They need to know that people in churches care about them and the ministries they’re engaged in, and they need to have the financial support of the church. One of the mission worker shown on the first video is Susie Frerichs, a WHPC mission parnter.
Susie Frerichs has been under appointment as a mission worker with the PC(USA) since 1994. After serving for 12 years as U.S. coordinator for Proyecto Amistad on the U.S.-Mexico border, in December 2006 Susie took up a new assignment as an itinerant preacher and teacher in the rural, mountainous area of the Presbytery of the Huastecas of the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico. In this ministry she assist the presbytery’s 13 churches in whatever way she is asked. Susie coordinate mission partnerships between the presbytery and congregations in both the US and in other parts of Mexico. Susie also support women’s and youth groups, and teach courses at the presbytery’s Bible institute. View the video on your right to hear more from Susie.

INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK JULY 25 - 31
Help our church become a home! You can make a big difference in the lives of others by spending a few hours hosting families that are temporarily homeless, right here in our church. Interfaith Hospitality Network is a network of churches and members that show Christ’s love to families on their way out of homelessness. WHPC is hosting these families right here in our church JULY 25-31. We encourage you, your friends and/or your family to make some time to bring a smile and a kind word to these families. Volunteers are needed for evening hosts (5:30-8pm), weekend hosts (2-3 hour shifts during the day), overnight hosts (8pm - 6 am). We also need for volunteers for providing the meals. To help host, contact Ann Kincannon gkincannon@austin.rr.com 784-4968. To help with food, contact Val Luessenhop at 917-0765. val@luessenhop.net.
