Join us at 11:00 CT for lunch and a discussion of this story that follows Ethel Gathers, the wife of an American officer, who discovers an orphanage in Occupied Germany filled with abandoned mixed-race children born to German women and Black American soldiers. Ethel dedicates herself to finding these children homes. The story also follows Ozzie Phillips, a Black American soldier navigating racism while serving in Germany, and Sophia Clark, a young woman in 1965 Maryland who uncovers a secret that reshapes her understanding of identity and family.
