May 1 - 31 | Drop-Off at Blue Bins/Church Office
WHPC is hosting a community-wide donation drive to collect incontinence products to support older adults and their caregivers who may otherwise struggle to afford them. Donations help provide comfort, hygiene, and independence through AGE’s Health Equipment Lending Program, which distributes these items free of charge to neighbors in need across Central Texas.
Our goal is to collect 350 packages (all-sizes) of incontinence products.
This is in partnership with AGE of Central Texas, Memory Matters, and Mission.
Sunday, May 17 | 9 am – 1 pm

Through the Mobile Loaves & Fishes (MLF) food truck ministry, volunteers provide food, clothing, hygiene products and other life-sustaining items to our homeless neighbors 7 nights a week, 365 days a year.
Mobile Loaves & Fishes is also the visionary organization behind Community First! Village, a master planned development in east Austin that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas.
WHPC is responsible for make-ready and truck run shifts on the first and second Sundays of every month.

NEW, REGULAR OPPORTUNITIES
WHPC has a long history of supporting MLF with transitioning people from homelessness to being part of a community that includes housing, dignified income, physical and mental well being, and supportive relationships. We are continuing to do this with monthly gatherings at King Park area of Community First. These gatherings focus on hanging out with neighbors and sharing a meal. Think of it as cul-de-sac party/cook out in your neighborhood. Grilling, games & conversations … This is a family friendly event that will bless all those that participate.
This past Sunday, we heard from church member Fred Wilder about the work of the Memory Caregiver Academy of Austin (MCAA), a nonprofit founded by his wife, Debbie Wilder.

One Great Hour of Sharing supports hunger, poverty, and disaster assistance programs of the PCUSA. This is one of two special denomination-wide offerings we collect a year to make a significant impact in our world.

The Meal Prep Team works together for an hour preparing the food that will be distributed off the delivery trucks. The commissary where the food prep takes place is just a mile from WHPC at St. John’s Newman Catholic Church. This is a great intergenerational opportunity to do alongside your kids!

The Truck Run team takes the food that was prepared by the make-ready team and drives the meals to the unhoused all around Austin. This is a great opportunity to encounter the unhoused and bless them with food as well as your presence. This is also a great way to introduce your teenager to poverty and other social issues in Austin.
The truck runs start and end at St. John’s Newman Catholic Church, just a mile away from WHPC.
