Meet Veronica Kroner

My two kids, Mia and Jackson, are total opposites. Mia, 15,  is a rule follower and respectful. Jackson, 8, is my precious boy who resists at every opportunity. Both are children on the Autism Spectrum. There are times when his meltdowns leave us with nothing but to wait for a miracle to happen.

Our neighbor Chad Salls would listen to me as I shared our struggles. He said, “Why don’t you come to my church?” I replied, “Church doesn’t work. I’ve been there”.

After many invitations, I came by myself one Sunday morning. I thought that Chad had told Pastor Emily about me because it seemed like she was preaching right to me.

I kept coming back, and then things just started to line up. I feel like coming here has given me so much hope and inner peace. There is a reason why my children are mine and nobody else’s, why I am with Sheldon, why we have this mission, and why you guys are such a village for us.

A lot of what we’ve seen in the last few years, we’ve learned that we cannot do this alone. Our faith has given us all hope. If strangers at WHPC can love our children, then why not have hope? When we finally have the kids to sleep, the only thing we think is “give it to God,” and we remember that it is only until the weekend when we get back to church.
