Generosity in a Time of Crisis: WHPC’s Special Offering for COVID-19 Relief

By Emily Wright, Stacy Ikard, and Claire Berry, Pastors of WHPC

Our community and our world are facing tremendous challenges due to COVID-19. WHPC has already responded generously: giving to One Great Hour of Sharing, buying groceries for Manos de Cristo’s food pantry, sewing masks for essential workers, and more. It’s amazing to see our church witnessing to the love of God in these hard times.

Now, we have a new opportunity to help: a Special Offering for COVID-19 Relief.

Donations will be split 50/50 between trusted WHPC partners in Central Texas and in Nicaragua as they strive to serve through this crisis.

·      Locally, the offering will benefit Manos de Cristo and Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services. Through these ministries, we will help vulnerable families meet their basic needs amidst mounting uncertainty and economic stress. Donations will put food on the table, keep bills and rent paid, and support families to thrive through this challenging time.

·      In Nicaragua, our gifts will go to Eden Center, Colegio Cristiano Presbiteriano, and AMOS Health & Hope. These ministries are working tirelessly to serve poor and marginalized communities especially hard-hit by COVID-19. Through our special offering, WHPC will help our partners provide education, feed children and families, and train and supply medical workers on the frontlines in extremely difficult circumstances.

Finally, spread the word. The Special Offering for COVID-19 Relief will continue through the end of July. In this time, we are hoping to reach or exceed $50,000 in giving to maximize the impact. Together, we can make a big difference and spread faith, hope, and love far and wide.
