Finding Hope, Building Futures: An Update from PCHAS

Finding Hope, Building Futures: An Update from PCHAS

At Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church, we believe in the power of restoration—the kind of transformation that happens when someone hears, perhaps for the first time, “You matter. You are not alone. There is hope.” That’s exactly what Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS) offers families across Texas—and why we’re proud to call them a mission partner.  We recently got an update from PCHAS during our monthly Mission Spotlight at WHPC.

Meet Erica

Erica is a single mom of three. She grew up in a home marked by abuse and trauma, and when she had children of her own, she realized she didn’t have the tools—or the support—to be the kind of mother she wanted to be. Her turning point came with an eviction notice taped to her apartment door. With nowhere else to turn, she called PCHAS.

That phone call changed everything.

“I want to thank you for everything you’ve done for me and my kids,” Erica recently wrote. “Throughout the years I have been learning how to be a better parent with your program and counseling. I have grown to be a better mom for my kids and that is the greatest gift you could have given me… I’m glad I called almost 3 years ago looking for hope and found you full of it—the only people who believed I could be a better mom.”

Thanks to the support of PCHAS and the wraparound care they provide—from parenting education to counseling to housing support—Erica and her children have a new story.

Why It Matters

Erica’s story is just one of many. Every day, PCHAS walks alongside vulnerable children and families who are facing overwhelming challenges—homelessness, generational trauma, poverty, or family instability. But they don’t offer quick fixes or temporary relief. They build trust. They offer healing. They invest in long-term change.

As a church, your giving, your prayers, and your belief in this work are part of every story like Erica’s. You’re helping real families rewrite the narrative.
